La Sony ULH était la dernière bande Sony haut de gamme, à faible bruit et à sortie élevée, classée +3 (type 4) pour le marché grand public, à peu près équivalente à la Maxell UDXL ou à l'Ampex Grand Master disponibles dans les années 1970-1980. En tant que nouvelles bandes, elles étaient excellentes, même à 3-3/4ips. Elles étaient disponibles dans les années 1980 jusqu'à ce que Sony abandonne le marché des bandes à bobines.

Sony ULH was Sony’s last top end, low noise, high output tape, classified as a +3 (type 4) for the consumer market, roughly equivalent to Maxell UDXL or Ampex Grand Master available in the 1970s-1980s. As new tapes, they were excellent, even at 3-3/4ips. They were available through the 1980s until Sony exited the reel to reel tape business.
